A Quick Check-In

When this all started, I don’t think a lot of people really felt the reality of our situations. It’s hard not to have a routine or to break out of a routine, mentally and physically. It can feel like your world is suddenly upside down. When we were advised to stay at home, no one was certain about how long we’d be living like this for–a week? A few weeks? A few months? Maybe a year?

One thing is for sure, we’re adapting. We’re finding the silver lining in things, showing support for the people we care about, doing what we can to help ourselves and others. In the face of adversity, we find a way to keep going and overcome. That might not mean that we’re always feeling positive and looking ahead. It just means that we’re working things out as we go.

How are you doing this week? How are you feeling? Where are you at mentally? Where are you at physically?

Maybe this was a much-needed break from your busy life and you never knew you needed to slow down and rest. Maybe life has been hectic and a scramble to get back up on your feet but you’re still able to work and live comfortably. Maybe your world has been turned upside down but you’re slowly and surely finding out what works for you.

Whatever situation you’re finding yourself in, know that all of the trainers at Trifecta are working hard Monday through Friday teaching free classes. It’s what we can do to keep life feeling semi-normal. Whether you need a break from a stressful day or a workout routine to keep you consistent or motivated, our trainers are here to give you a friendly but firm push in the right direction. And honestly, sometimes it’s just good to hear someone else’s voice and feel their energy.

Mental health is especially important for everyone right now. No matter who you are or how resilient you think you are, it’s important to check in on yourself and let others check in on you, too. I’d recommend a little self-care if you can–take a relaxing bath, read a book instead of the news, do a virtual happy hour with some friends, or get a workout in and sweat out the stress.

If you’re struggling to feel happy, try out some gratitude/mindfulness exercises. I’ve talked about it a few times on the blog. A simple and small way of doing that is to keep a journal. Think about what you’re grateful for and write it down every morning.

It’s been my job as a personal trainer to help people become healthier and inadvertently, happier. I’ll always be providing that type of information here, so check in every week to see what I have to share. Let’s get through this together.

I like the daily gratitude exercise.

Thank you in for the check in. It is true that no matter have resilient you are you must check in with yourself. I have seen so many people who I perceived as strong breakdown. One way I have been keeping myself sane is by having phone calls with my family every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday faithfully.
